Ajtte Sami Museum
Ájtte is the main museum for the Lapp culture (or sami culture) in Swedish Lapland. It is also a special museum for
the mountain nature and culture as well as an information centre for mountain tourists.
Jokkmokk is at the heart of the moutain world of Swedish Lapland. The mountains and the vast woods have been the home of
the Lapps for a long time. There has been mining in the same area since the 1600s. The rivers of Lapland were tamed
during the 1900s to give Sweden hydroelectric power. And here is Laponia, the World Heritage of Swedish Lapland.
The Ajtte museum is on the E-45.
