Kongsfjord General Store and Cafe -
in the village on the shore of the Arctic Ocean

Kongsfjord General Store and Cafe

Liv and Per Simble at Kongsfjord general store This Kongsfjord General Store and Cafe is one of the real pearls of Norwegian Lapland. It is located just on the shore of the Arctic Ocean.

The old white building made a compelling impression on us the day we decided to go to Kongsfjord. An old Mercedes beside a very old American Magnolia petrol pump. We just had to stop just o tfind out what was going on here.

As we open the door of General Store and Cafe, Liv and Per Simble welcome my wife and me with nice and humorous remarks. At once we felt at home in this oldfashioned store.

Liv starts making her famous waffles for us, and we are invited to ivestigate two stories full of peculiarities. We ended up buying Per's cooking book with recipes from the area plus a local cheese made on the Russian border.

Liv's fish soup has already become famous. Per and Liv has donated a floating stone to the Kongsfjord village and Berlevaag municipality. flytende stein When Per handed it over to the mayor, he said in his speech that when we can get a stone to float on water here in Kongsfjord, everything is possible.

The stone itself weighs 900 kilos and is made by Herr Kusser in Passau in Germany. The whole fountain weighs 1600 kilos. There are similar stones made by Herr Kusser in places like in New York, Tokio, Los Angeles and Oslo.
