The rules for sale of alcohol may be stricter in Lapland than elsewhere
Alcohol in Lapland
The sale of alcohol in Lapland is subject to strict regulations. You can buy beer in most supermarkets all over Lapland.
As a rule you will not find beer in kiosks and
petrol stations.
In all 3 Lapland countries wine and stronger beverages can only be bought at special state monopoly shops.
In Finland they are called Alko.
In Norway you must look for Vinmonopolet, and in Sweden Systembolaget.
You find these shops in all cities and towns and some villages throughout Lapland. Most people will be able to tell you where
to find the nearest shop.
When in doubt, they will ask you to prove your identity and age.
Alcohol in Finland
Medium beers and ciders (below 4.7 %) of alcohol by volume can be purchased in supermarkets.
Beverages containing more than 4.7 % of alcohol by volume have to be purchased from the ALKO.

Alcohol in Norway
To buy beers, wines and other products below 22 % per volume you have to be at least 18 years of age.
With liquers and spirits stronger than 22 % per volume you have to be at least 20 years of age.

Alcohol in Sweden
To buy beers, wines and other products more alcohol than 3,5% per volume you have to be at least 20 years of age.
You can buy beers between 2,25 and 3,5% per volume from the age of 18. These beers you can buy at supermarkets.

Driving and alcohol
The prescribed blood-alcohol limits in Lapland are:
0,2 pro mille (0,02%) in Norwegian and Swedish Lapland
0,5 pro mille (0,05%) in Finnish Lapland
